Getting an e-mail, dear FLAGHUNTER, is a matter of course nowadays...
We don't think back to the time when the grandfathers of our grandfathers tried to be in contact with people nationwide.
Let`s look back together to the year 1639, when in America the citizen Richard Fairbanks was commissioned by the government authority in Boston, Massachusetts to deliver and carry letters. From the year 1672 there was a monthly postal connection between New York and Boston. The words "urgent" and "fast" had a completely different meaning than today...
How do you think the letters came from A to B in 1763? Yes exactly, the distances were overcome by horse. So it was no surprise that letters from New York to Buffalo were on their way for 4 days, on about 475 miles well-maintained country roads!
From 1842 the government took over the postal service and since 1847 there are state stamps. Also in 1847, the first contract for mailing mail was signed with a foreign government - with Bremen in Germany! For such routes there were not only riders and coaches but also steamers and railways in service, on so-called post roads.

Also in 1847, the first contract for mailing mail was signed with a foreign government - with Bremen in Germany! For such routes there were not only riders and coaches but also steamers and railways in service, on so-called post roads.
What was the next step? How did they manage to travel longer distances in less time? In 1918 the U.S. Air Mail was officially inaugurated with the route Washington - Philadelphia - New York. And all this in times without navigation system, without GPS, without smartphone with compass app. So, what's next? Instead of always handling a map and compass in a small plane, someone had a GREAT idea: giant signs in the landscape by means of 21 meter big concrete arrows and about 15 meter high lighthouses, so that they are well visible for the aviators...
Between 1926 and 1932, hundreds of these signs were created on at that time 34 Contract Air Mail (C.A.M.) routes. Some of them are still well visible today, almost 100 years later. Thanks to today's technology - long live the GPS - and FLAGSTACK you can discover these contemporary witnesses!
As the latest Country Badge (COB) for the USA, FLAGSTACK presents the "Aviation Navigation Arrow" series of badges with levels 1-5! From 29 September 2019 (12:00 noon, time zone FHQ / Europe / Berlin) you will find a total of 1,403 locations of these navigation arrows for aviation with a special icon on the map. The diligent MrAndMrsSmith (DE) identified these locations and sent them to us (via e-mail, not air mail). So you "only" need to collect them step by step and you can discover a piece of the U.S. history ;-) If you discover 10 of these navigation arrows, you already reach the first badge level! Glad you don't have to organize a horse or a plane for that, right?
Maybe these navigation arrows will even help you to push your success in the big "Cross-country through America" badge?!
Team FLAGSTACK hopes you have fun on your expedition through the USA!

FLAGHUNTER, pack your bag!
Have you been dreaming about a road trip through the USA for a long time? You're feeling like so many others. Because the United States of America is a vast and wonderful country where there's so much to discover. Each of its regions offer unique landscapes, history, and culture.
Even if you have found many excuses so far why it is impossible to go to and through the USA, now there are 61 good reasons for you to do so!
cbsassy (US) has come up with a great idea for all FLAGHUNTERS. Matching the current FLAGSTACK football season, FLAGSTACK offers you even more American flair!
From 23 September 2019 (12:00 noon, time zone FHQ / Europe / Berlin) you will find a special flag with a special icon at every state capital of the 51 American states. If you capture these ones, you get a beautiful badge for the respective state. cbsassy told us about in total 9 regions in which these 51 states are located. So if you capture the matching special flags of a region, you will also get a badge for that region. And because FLAGSTACK likes to go one better, and we know that a diligent FLAGHUNTER never gets enough, of course there is a very special Big-Deal badge for you, if you have discovered the whole USA with FLAGSTACK!
With this new Country Badge (COB) cbsassy and FLAGSTACK lure you to the most beautiful areas and offer you the best experiences on your adventure trip through the following 9 regions: New England, Mid-Atlantic, Lower South, Upper South, Great Lakes, Northwest, South Central, Plains and Southwest.
For sure, this task is not an easy one. To keep you cheerful on your way to the big goal "COB USA", you’ll get not only 51 state badges and 9 region badges but also generous extra points for reaching these intermediate goals. A total of - brace yourself - more than 1 million points for the entire COB awaits you! That's a BIG deal!

26 - What a number! The Latin alphabet has 26 letters and from these 26 letters we love to create great news such as for the recently started FLAGTACK football season! And from time to time we also apologize with a selection of these 26 letters when the hiccups in the system shake everything up.
But 26 can be much more... If you add 6 zeros at the end, then you’ve reached the latest FLAGSTACK record: Capture number 26 million!
When and where?
05.09.2019, noon in southern Germany, feels like in the middle of "nothing" between Ingolstadt and Munich - and yet such an important location: for the badge Flag Capture No. 26 Mio.
Have a look, you'll find it here: https://flagstack.net/map/?highlight=1&id=4975744&latitude=48.5223042&longitude=11.6553101
Who and what?
The LordMusicMan (DE) has certainly worked hard to reach the FLAGTACK football season goals, when coincidence took its course and a 20% discount code for the webshop and the record of millions flew by like a football at a Green Flag from bogerd (DE) :-) We are all happy with you and for you!
And because this is so great and fits so well that you can fill your backpack with flags at a reduced price for the FLAGTACK football season, YOU can also use this discount code! From now on you have the one-time opportunity to get a 20% discount* with the code EYMCKEY in the FLAGSTACK webshop... Sounds good? Well, there you go... https://flagstack.net/shop
Have fun shopping, deploying and capturing…
Your Team FLAGSTACK
* The discount is not payable in cash. Only available for orders placed with PayPal on the website. An order with voucher and / or discount via apps is currently not possible.

Today we introduce the latest Local Area Badge (LAB) at FLAGSTACK: a festival in Salzburg, AT!
There are many reasons to visit Salzburg in Austria... Walk in the footsteps of Mozart, pure musical enjoyment with the Salzburg Festival, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with "special value for mankind"...
And with special value for you, dear Flaghunter, you can experience all this while strolling along the LAB Salzburg through the city! Each station, which is marked with a special icon on the map, gives you information about the location and above all points, points and more points :-) Collect at least 38 of the 47 special icons to get a beautiful badge and 38,000 extra points for your diligence!
The Dream Team Degeisi and Freckless, who came up with the idea for this LAB and put a lot of research into the elaboration, has already booked their tour and will be able to enjoy the special highlights of Salzburg and the badge and the points - all this together creates great new memories because of FLAGSTACK.
If you want to do something very special, try FLAGSTACK's LABs out! There are so many of them all over the world, and if you like even more!
Are there also beautiful landscapes or special buildings in your area that deserve to make it big with a LAB? Then send your suggestions to lab@flagstack.net and we will create a unique LAB together!
We are happy to receive ideas for individual sights at poi@flagstack.net. On the list for the next release there is still a little space left :-)
It can be an entire country? Then send your idea to cob@flagstack.net and we will contact you!
Pure culture on tour with FLAGSTACK - enjoy it!
